Don’t Forget the Siblings

Learning that ones child has a serious medical condition is a very stressful experience for any parent. Even when parents and doctors recognize that a child is ill, it can time for an accurate diagnosis and prognosis. Sometimes, dealing with the unknown can be more stressful than dealing with “the known”.
While friends and relatives often rally to support the parents during these difficult times, when there are other children in the family, at times their needs take a backseat to the needs of the sick child. Nicole Brierty, the Social Media Coordinator for Epic’s sister company in New Jersey, experienced this firsthand when her younger sister took ill.
